Thank you for considering submitting your creative work to us. This magazine celebrates the culture and creativity existing in the Ahmadu Bello University. We are open to submissions from students and Alumni.
We are excited to review your short stories, poetry, and interview proposals. Please read the following guidelines carefully to ensure a smooth submission process:
Eligibility:
- Submissions are open to writers and artists of all backgrounds and experience levels. We welcome short stories, poetry, non-fiction and featured interviews. We prioritize work from Abusites and Alumni.
Submission Period:
- Submissions are accepted all year-round.
Genres and Categories:
We are currently accepting submissions in the following categories:
- Short Stories: Fiction and creative non-fiction, up to 1,000 words.
- Poetry: Up to 2 poems per submission.
- Featured Interviews: Proposals for interviews with interesting individuals from various fields such as art, literature, science, and more.
Submission Format:
- All submissions must be in English.
- Use a standard font (e.g., Times New Roman) and double-spacing.
- Submissions should be in .doc or .pdf format.
- Include a cover letter with your contact information, a brief bio, and a summary of your submission.
Multiple Submissions:
- You may submit work in multiple categories, but please send separate submissions for each category.
Simultaneous Submissions:
- We accept simultaneous submissions, but kindly notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.
Rights:
- By submitting your work to ABU Creative Magazine, you grant us first rights.
- After publication, all rights revert to the author, but we request acknowledgment in future reprints.
Response Time:
- Response times may vary but expect a response within 3-5 days. Feel free to send an email inquiring about the status of your work.
How to Submit:
- Email your submission as an attachment to [Submission Email Address].
- Use the subject line: "[Category] Submission: [Your Name] [Title of Work]."
- In the body of the email, include a brief cover letter with your bio, department, level, social media and links to any other published works you may have. If this is your first time submitting to a magazine for publication, we are excited to have you. Please include this detail in the letter.
Editing:
- Our editorial team may work with authors to refine and edit accepted submissions.
Promotion:
- We encourage contributors to participate in the promotion of their work through social media and other channels.
