On April 11th 2025, two ABUSITES put on a Exhibition in collaboration with Institut Francais du Nigeria, an Abuja Based Cultural Hub.
We spoke to one of the curators, Aisha Kabiru Mohammed, a Law Student and writer.
Aisha is a writer, literary critic, and digital storyteller passionate about amplifying African voices and narratives. Her literary journey began with Ayamba LitCast, where she spent two years reviewing poetry collections and sharpening her critical voice under mentorship.
In 2020, Aisha joined Premium Times as a UDEME Monitor, investigating government projects and writing reports that promoted transparency and accountability. She later took her curiosity and love for dialogue to Africa in Dialogue, where she interviewed creative non-fiction writers and contributed to important conversations across the continent.
Aisha has worked as a reporter for African Times, covering daily events, and as an in-house writer at Document Women, where she explored themes of gender, identity, and social justice through compelling storytelling.
Currently, she is the Social Media Manager at The Third Space, where she crafts content strategies, manages multi-platform campaigns, and builds digital communities through events and creative engagement.
At the center of Aisha’s work is a belief in the power of stories to inform, connect, and inspire change.
NAIJA MOSAIC: Nigerian Culture Reporting and Promotion
Naija Mosaic is a media company focused on spotlighting Nigeria’s vibrant and dynamic creative industry. Our vision is to report on various sectors of the creative industry, including music, film, fashion, art, literature, and digital media. Our goal is to highlight the work of Nigerian creatives, amplify their voices, and make art and creative content accessible to the broader populace.
The Yar’ Arewa exhibition is a project taken up by Naija Mosaic, in a bid to promote Northern Nigerian Artists. It is in line with the objective of Naija Mosaic which champions inclusion and inclusivity of different creatives in the Nigerian Creative Eco-system and Economy.
At Naija Mosaic, we believe there is a gap in the reportage of the cultural scene and art and culture that originates from Northern Nigeria, that is why we decided to do this. We handled the curation because we believe in these women and their artists and we hope to continuously bridge that gap with this project. This is the first in a long line of activities we want to do towards this cause.
We intend to become the leading media platform that bridges the gap between the creative industry and its audience, celebrating Nigerian culture and talent while encouraging cross-cultural exchange. By providing in-depth coverage, exclusive interviews, insightful features, and thought-provoking content, we aim to create an engaging space for both creatives and art lovers.
Investing in research towards Northern Nigerian Visual artists because these women have been doing the work for a long time and are not getting the spotlight and accolades they deserve. We hope to have more events and We would love you all to be a part of our community.
The exhibition is still ongoing at The French Institute at 52 Libreville Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja.
We cannot wait to have you!
